Real Wedding: Katie and Michael

There’s a certain beauty about developing a friendship with your significant other before blossoming into a romantic relationship.  That’s exactly what Katie and Michael did: they met at Georgetown University, where they were friends and roommates first.  It wasn’t until after Michael graduated that the two began dating and the rest was history from there!

For their wedding, Katie and Michael were going for a classic rustic theme; they wanted their special day to feel fun, relaxed and joyful.  Katie is a huge lover of flowers, but instead of going with a more formal look to her florals, she chose to incorporate a wildflower look to go along with her rustic vibe.  We loved this!  Katie and Michael were very into the design process, as there were several things they were adamant about having: a beautifully-decorated chuppah, rich colors for florals and accents, and personal photos to bring the two families together.  With Katie and Michael’s input, Team KWE went to work to bring their wedding day vision to life!

Guests arrived at Park Winters and made their way to the Pecan Tree for a beautiful outdoor ceremony.  The chuppah stood elegantly under the tree, decorated with a lace overlay, colorful ribbons, and vibrant florals.  After an intimate ceremony, which included Jewish traditions like a blessing over wine and breaking of the glass, guests made their way to the patio to celebrate the newlyweds.

When guests found their seats for dinner, they were greeted with a personalized package of s’mores.  Team KWE loved this simply sweet wedding favor!  For dinner, everyone could choose their favorite dishes from three different stations: a chicken station, a beef station, and a gnocchi station. After a delicious dinner, guests enjoyed toasts to the newlyweds from members of the wedding party and family.  For dessert, guests could indulge in many different flavors of pies, as Katie and Michael preferred pie to cake.  From here, Katie and Michael spent the remainder of their night surrounded by their closest family and friends.  We absolutely loved working with this spectacular couple and we wish them many years of love and happiness in their marriage.  Congratulations, Katie and Michael!
