Chocolate, Green, White & Silver Tablescape

This year was our first year hosting Thanksgiving at our home. In previous years, I rather enjoyed helping my Mom put the finishing touches on the Big Meal and setting the table. In fact, my Mom is well-known for her gorgeous handmade place cards (ever the scrapbooker) and I always delighted to see what she had come up with from year to year.

For our Thanksgiving tablescape, I chose a cold-weather palette of Chocolate Brown, Creamy Whites, Fresh Greens and Aged Silver. We paired our classic white china with brushed silver chargers, and Chocolate Brown hemstitch napkins.

At each placesetting, I placed a tree trunk slice tag with it’s rustic jute tie atop each napkin. Each guests’ name was handwritten in white ink directly onto the wood and was then accented with dried leaves.

The same leaves were tied into the centerpiece designed by Flourish. Shannon made a gorgeous rustic modern concoction of fresh green kale, creamy white carnations and roses, dense silver dusty miller, green and brown eucalyptus pods and more dried leaves all in a rustic brown box.

Surrounding the box of blooms sat white ceramic gourds and white ceramic bud vases filled with extra botanical that matched the centerpiece. Crystal candlesticks and tall white tapers (a wedding gift) flanked either side of the table and trios of mercury glass votives were tucked inbetween the decor.

I love these colors – I could use them all winter long! The combo is fresh, clean and elegant – the perfect palette for any winter event.

Love the trunk slices and amazing colours! Did you have ken chop down a small tree?

Thanks so much! I actually bought them at a local gift shop – they came pre-sliced and with the tie. That's what started the inspiration.
