I’ve always been one of those people that will treasure and hold onto something that was passed down from a family member for the simple fact that it was once my grandmother’s, or another family member’s. When I received a large blue Ball canning jar I instantly fell in love with it! It was given to me to use as a piggy bank, but it also inspired a collection that I will treasure for years to come – and because of this, my heart can’t help but skip a beat when I see the use of these old jars in wedding day decor!

I love the splash of color the blue jars give to table tops. You can mix them with different kinds of glass, or you can stick to the basic Ball jar shape.

Another special treat at Grandma’s was drinking juice out of small jelly jars. It’s almost as if I was being primed to appreciate fabulous signatures drinks! These jars can be found with handles or without, and can be done in a simple fashion (shown here with fruit garnishes), or can be all dolled up with raffia or twine and garnished with a sprig of flowers (like lavender).

Wrapped with wire and hung from inexpensive chain, these make a nice alternative to the paper lanterns that have become all the rage.

I thought this was such an awesome idea! Especially if you are having an outdoor wedding where an evening breeze might blow pictures or picture frames onto the ground: grab some clear jars and place old family photos in the jars. It keeps the pictures safe and adds a touch of the unexpected.

If you’re up for a little DIY, you can string beads on to wire and wrap them, fill them with glass marbles, stones, dried flowers, or candy to fit your decor. Proceed with caution! You may soon find yourself a jar collector like myself.
