Botanical Wedding Style

Flowers are gorgeous, yes? Did you know that beautiful botanicals could be equally as striking if executed properly? I have three fabulous examples to showcase this delightful trend that will add a touch of whimsy and texture to your event design. The key is in staying loyal to your chosen plant and allowing it to saturate it’s texture and color into the decor.

EXAMPLE 1: Air Plants
I have been dying to do an air plant wedding – they are the sinewy sister of the ever-popular succulent. The delicate lines of the leaves create a romantic texture and their desaturated color fits with the hot neutral and pastel color trends. They are hearty and require very little to stay nourished.

EXAMPLE 2: Wheat + Pampas Grass
There is a special place in my heart for pampas grass, as it was a part of the landscaping for the winery I was married at. I always found it rustic and romantic – like feathers grown from the earth. Both wheat and pampas have a gorgeous rustic texture that reflect both the hot neutral trend in weddings, as well as the braided and feathery textures that have become so popular.

EXAMPLE 3: Ferns
Having just returned from Humboldt County on an Anniversary road trip, I’m overcome with fern-y inspiration. Most might think that this supple plant could not stand on it’s own – but it’s all in keeping it monobotanical, choosing a palette that lets the rich green shine and finding unique vessels that pop against the table.
